We had TI 82's in high school in..... wait for it! 1991!

I still use a TI-86 for work that manufactured in 1996.

I got my TI-82 in 1995 I think. Last year before the TI-83 I think, most kids in my grade didn’t get calculators until a year later, so I was behind in terms of what games I could play on it. They couldn’t use their cover as a straight-edge though...

It might have been sophomore year, now that I think about it. The benefit of a 7-12 school, in 8th grade there was a single ~20 person class of Algebra I a year early based on your 7th grade math performance. This was the easy path to taking Calculus by senior year, only requiring one year of taking two math classes. I did the whole thing and then refused to take Calc because of the teacher.
